Are you wondering what to do with your Christmas tree?
According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Delawareans are encouraged to recycle your Christmas tree at one of many yard waste recycling facilities located throughout the state, or to place your tree curbside for recycling. Delaware is continuing its post-holiday tradition of recycling Christmas trees which benefits the state environmentally. The DNREC website provides a list of yard waste sites accepting Christmas trees for recycling throughout the state. Be sure to call ahead as each facility has a different schedule for accepting them.
A few reminders: Delaware State Parks locations are no longer accepting Christmas trees for recycling. Also, keep in mind that the tree should not have any decorations, lights, fake snow and should be detached from a tree stand before recycling.
If loading your Christmas tree in your vehicle and traveling to a drop-off site is not possible you can check with your regular trash hauler to see if they are collecting trees and what their schedule and requirements are or call Unwanted Clutter Junk Pros to haul it away for you at 302-737-7126.
